ZOA to honor Cruz, Dershowitz, Leven, Hagee

ZOA logoNEW YORK (Press Release) – The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA), the nation’s oldest pro-Israel organization in the United States is excited to announce a star- studded line up for its annual Justice Louis D. Brandeis Award Dinner on Sunday November 23. The dinner will take place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City, located on 109 East 42nd Street at 5:00pm.   Honorees including Republican Senator Ted Cruz, Attorney Alan Dershowitz, Michael Leven, and Pastor John Hagee will be awarded for their dedicated work in supporting Israel.  The Louis Brandeis award will be presented to Michael Leven, president and chief operating officer of the Las Vegas Sands Corp.

Senator Cruz, who is heavily praised for his support of Israel will be awarded with the Dr. Bob Shillman Award. The Shillman award is given to an outstanding pro-Israel U.S. legislator who has a consistent and extraordinary record supporting Israel and promoting strong U.S.-Israel relations.  Like Shillman himself, the recipient of this award has also shown a special sensitivity, interest and concern about rising anti-Semitism and Israel-bashing here and abroad.

Renowned human rights attorney, Professor Alan Dershowitz, will not only present the Shillman award to Senator Cruz but will receive the Mortimer Zuckerman Award.  The Mortimer Zuckerman Award is given to an individual who displays a consistent and extraordinary record of promoting Israel’s record of a relentless pursuit of peace while it takes dangerous risks in that pursuit, and promoting Israel’s remarkably humane policies despite being surrounded by violent enemies.

Receiving the Sheldon and Dr. Miriam Adelson award will be Pastor John Hagee, Founder and Chairman of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the largest Christian Zionist group in the country.  The award is given to an individual who has a long and distinguished record of extraordinary and effective work benefitting and defending the Jewish State of Israel, including promoting Israel’s legal, historical, political, and religious rights to the Land of Israel. The Adelsons will be on hand to present the award to Dr. Hagee.

“This is the greatest array of renowned, and accomplished pro-Israel activist leaders and extraordinary pro-Israel business magnates any Jewish organization has ever assembled for one Dinner,” said Morton Klein, President of the Zionist Organization of America. “Their participation is a testament to the respect they have for ZOA’s important, effective, and it shows the great respect and appreciation we have for them by recognizing and honoring them. We believe that the almost 1000 people including 250 students who will attend will be both inspired and educated about the truth of the ongoing war against Israel.”

Mortimer Zuckerman, notable pro-Israel advocate and owner and publisher of the US News & World Report and the New York Daily News has been named the emcee of the award ceremony. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at zoa.org/dinner2014.org or email dinner@zoa.org.

  1. Talk about encouraging split support in Congress in awarding Ted Cruz an award. This is more than a little short sighted.
