For Your Pleasure
Southwestern Jewish Press, September 30, 1955, Page 6

By Julia Kaufman

It was decided a long time ago that “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”  Who wants to be dull?  For diversion during the winter season San Diegans are being offered a variety of programs including travelogues, forums, plays, concerts, an opera and ballet.

Bon voyage!  If anyone told you that after a hard day at work you could embark on a tour to Cairo or Bagdad; enjoy a Caribbean cruise or a trip to Switzerland, you’d find it hard to believe. Yet every Monday morning at 8:30 p.m., thousands gather at the Russ Auditorium to enjoy one of Burton Holmes famous travelogues.  Some “voyagers’ find pleasure in revisiting and refreshing their memories of places they have seen.

On Monday, October 3rd, we will join friends on a Magic Carpet journey to far off places in the Middle East. Thayer Soule, associated with Mr. Holmes since 1935 when he was a student at Harvard, will be the narrator for “Cairo to Bagdad”.  Book your tour today through the premier Box Office, tel BE 9-4700.
