USO-JWB
Southwestern Jewish Press, March 30, 1956, Page 4

By Claire Kaplan

The USO-JWB Passover Seder for Military Personnel was a tremendous success, with an attendance of 250 men, women and children.  Mr. Harry Handlery was publicly thanked for donating the Don Room.

Temporarily released for this occasion were some 100 Boots, gratefully enjoying every moment, and facing with reluctance the inevitable, their return to the salt mines. For their pleasure alone, the evening was worth every ounce of energy expelled by the wonderful committee. Thanks again to Mrs. Jenny Turner and her terrific crew, May Dan, Bessie Dean, Ida Levine and Sarah Blumenfeld.

Thanks also to the volunteer waitresses and waiters who did not sit down until evry boy was served.

*
The Armed Services Committee of Lasker Lodge, B’nai B’rith (chaired by Joseph Feldman) hosted the Bruch last Sunday at the Naval Training Station for 90 Boots.  No small trick filling 90 empty stomachs with lox and bagel, but they dood (sic) it and we’re proud!  Those home-made cakes didn’t linger longer either neither.

*
March 19ththe Swallows returned to Capistrano (flight 713 on schedule) and our own legal eagle, Hospital Corpsman Jay Richard Cades flew in from New York.  I could have sworn he was Barry Nelson.

*

Cupid’s Category: We note a newsome twosome, Audrey Mitchell (what a pretty girl) and Arnie Glastone (what a fine young man).  Should this materialize (ring, shopping, family meeting, etc) the nominal fee of 20c per glowing remark, still exists.

Congratulation to Joy Rose and Pau Weiner on their engagement. If I haven’t jumped the gun again, we toast you in Pepsis (low-cal) and wish you the best.

Lasker Lodge News
Southwestern Jewish Press, March 30, 1956, Page 4

By Henry Schwartz

The next regular Lasker Lodge meeting will be April 9th. The March 26th gathering was postponed due to Passover.

“Cross-Current,” the shocking report of the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith oninternational anti-Semitism during the past half decade, hit the bookracks of the nation this week.

Authored by ADL’s Arnold Forster and Benjamin Epstein. Who gave us “The Troublemakers, Cross Current” is a hard hitting , document acid expose on the sponsors of intolerance in the Arab lands, Germany and the United States.

Anti-Semitism did not die with Hitler. A real-though elusive—anti-Semitic international continues to provide professional and personal contact among character assassins, and hate-mongers, whose influence is not limited by geographic boundaries.

It lurks in the machinations of crack pots like C. Leon DeAryan, the doings of neo-fascist Werner Naumann in Germany, and in the hand-out to American hate mongers of the Arab Information Center.
