Syria response ‘will be clearly heard in Iran,’ Netanyahu says
(JNS.org) While a U.S. congressional vote on military action is on hold in light of the Obama Administration’s consideration of a Russian proposal to transfer Syria’s chemical weapons to international supervision, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday that the response on Syria “will be clearly heard in Iran.”

“It now must be ensured that the Syrian regime will be disarmed of its chemical weapons, and the world needs to make certain that those who use weapons of mass destruction will pay the price for it,” Netanyahu said at a graduation ceremony in Haifa for Israel Navy cadets, Israel Hayom reported. “The message that Syria receives will be clearly heard in Iran.”

Addressing the possibility of Syrian retaliation against Israel if the U.S. takes action, Netanyahu said, “Today, the rule that has guided me in most of my actions as prime minister and to which I adhere very carefully is perhaps more valid than ever. If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If we are not for ourselves, who will be for us? And the practical translation of this rule is that Israel will always be able to defend itself by itself against any threat.”

Palestinians express most favorable view on terrorism among Muslims, survey says
(JNS.org) In a new survey released by the Pew Research Center, support for terrorism and terrorist groups remains high amongst Palestinians, despite overall drops in support of terrorist groups across the Muslim world.

“Widespread Muslim concern about Islamic extremism is generally coupled with rejection of suicide bombing and other forms of violence in the name of Islam. However, in some countries, substantial minorities of Muslims say attacks on civilians are at least sometimes justified to defend Islam from its enemies; in the Palestinian territories, a majority of Muslims hold this view,” the survey said.

The survey highlights the deep level of support for suicide bombing in the Palestinian territories.

“Support for suicide bombing and other violence aimed at civilian targets is most widespread in the Palestinian territories, with 62% of Muslims saying that such attacks are often or sometimes justified in order to defend Islam from its enemies. Support is strong both in Hamas-ruled Gaza (64%) and the Fatah-governed West Bank (60%),” according to the survey.

Amongst support for several Islamic terrorist groups surveyed across the Muslim world, Palestinians also rank the highest in support for Al-Qaeda (35 percent favorable), the Taliban (29 percent favorable), and Hamas (48 percent favorable), and gave the second-most favorable rating for Hezbollah (43 percent).

But overall favorable views of terrorist groups has declined across the Muslim world, according to the Pew survey, and in no country polled do any of the terror groups receive majority support.

The Pew survey included face-to-face interviews with nearly 9,000 Muslims in 11 Muslim countries during this March and April.

Holocaust hideout in Warsaw destroyed by Polish couple
(JNS.org) A Polish couple pleaded guilty to the desecration of a historic site for destroying a Holocaust-era Jewish hideout in the Warsaw apartment the couple was renting. The hideout was made into an official historic monument in 1999.

Dariusz P. and Elzbieta P. were indicted after their actions were discovered in 2012. They had removed the wardrobe hideout to make space for a kitchen. The original hiding place was built by Warsaw ghetto inmate Leon Jolson.

Jolson and his wife survived, but his mother died while in hiding, the Associated Press reported.

September 11 anniversary draws jihadi praise and anti-American conspiracy theories
(JNS.org) Al-Sakinah, a website by run the Saudi Arabian government, posted an article marking the 12th anniversary of the September 11 attacks which claimed that the U.S. “played a central role in transforming terror into a global [phenomenon],” according to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

“This strategy allows [the U.S.] to redraw the map of the Arab countries… and to sow religious and sectarian war that enables it to control the future of the peoples and their states,” the article stated.

Around the world, jihadi extremists used the anniversary to praise the 9/11 attacks on social media and other online forums. “Manhattan, a fragment of hell, the stronghold of usury, was vaporized… the blood spilled, flesh was blown all over… [when] the arrogance [of the Americans] collapsed and retreated,” one poem read, according to MEMRI.

“Osama the lion… His position is firmly situated in a paradise,” one Facebook poster wrote next to a photo of the burning World Trade Center.

Temple Mount tension leads to Fatah-linked group’s ‘green light’ for attacks on Israel
(JNS.org) The Al-Aqsa Martys Brigade, a terror group loosely affiliated with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah party, has given the “green light” for terror attacks on Israel beginning on Friday.

According to a statement reported by Lebanese terror group Hezbollah’s Al-Manar news outlet, the Palestinian terror group referred to the recent visit by Jewish worshipers to the Temple Mount over Rosh Hashanah, which sparked Muslim rioting, as justification for the attacks.

“We are all witnessing the invasion by herds of settlers to the compound (Temple Mount) and [they] harm the [Muslim] worshippers without any intervention from the international community,” the statement said.

The Temple Mount complex is controlled by the Jordanian-affiliated Waqf (charitable trust), which controls the Muslim Holy sites of the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque. Jewish visitors to the holy site are only permitted on certain hours and are forbidden to pray.

The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade is a U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization. According to the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center, the Palestinian terror group comprises “an unknown number of small cells of Fatah-affiliated activists that emerged at the outset of the second Palestinian uprising (in 2000).”

Today, the terror group operates primarily in the Gaza Strip, but plans terror attacks inside of Israel and in the West Bank. It was the first terror group responsible for a female suicide bombing inside of Israel, in 2002.
