RICHMOND, California — I am helping in the preparation of an exhibit at the Richmond Museum of History — “Pioneer Jews to the Present: Jews of Richmond and Contra Costa County.” I am reaching out to San Diego Jewish World readers who may have memories, photographs, artifacts or stories about Richmond and Contra Costa County.

Help us tell the story of the Jewish Community in Richmond & Contra Costa County

The Richmond Museum of History is planning an exhibition to open in November 2018 honoring the contributions of the Jewish community in Richmond and greater Contra Costa Costa County. The exhibition developed out of our work on the History Unfolded project in support of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, where we searched through copies of the Richmond Daily Independent and Richmond Record Herald newspapers for coverage of Holocaust-related events held in the Museum collection. The results of our efforts in support of the project will be part of the exhibition.

The exhibition committee is developing biographical information about significant Jewish individuals in Richmond and greater Contra Costa County. We also want to hear from you! Do you have information related to local Jewish people in the past and present? We welcome information about Jewish-owned businesses and people from all walks of life. Hardly a day goes by without our finding more fascinating details.

If you know some aspects of Jewish history in the area please contact the museum at (510) 235-7387 or Melinda@richmondmuseum.org or Oliver B. Pollak, 402-659-2455, obpomni@aol.com
