SAN DIEGO — Two sweet books from Kar Ben. Although we’re a little late for Passover, or a little early, depending on how you look at it, these tales are fun to read any time of the year. Each story highlights a different aspect of the holiday, but both books expose our youngest readers to the joys of Passover. The simple, rhyming text and engaging illustrations will delight toddlers while helping them understand more about this special holiday.

Alligator Seder is written by Jessica Hickman and illustrated by Elissambura. What a fun romp through a Passover meal! From a quick search for chametz, to the Seder plate, the Four Questions and even finding the Afikomen, this happy alligator family shares the joy of celebrating Passover with young readers. The alligators are adorable, the food looks good enough to eat, and there are even tiny kipot on the heads of the dad and son. Alligator Seder is definitely a book to enjoy now, and to revisit on Passover.

If you and your little ones love matzah, and who doesn’t, I Love Matzah is the perfect choice to read, especially if you eat it all year round. Author Freidele Galya Soman Biniashvili and illustrator Angelika Scudamore have combined their talents to create a precious little boy who eats matzah throughout the day. There are matzah surprises for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even for snacks. Who knew there were so many different ways to eat matzah? While I Love Matzah is definitely a story designed to be read during Passover, it can be enjoyed any time matzah is served. A yummy addition to your holiday bookshelf.
