Where Money You Donated to Jewish Federation Has Gone

June 4, 2024

SAN DIEGO — Terrorism and war, economic hardship and instability, natural disasters… It has been a year of unfathomable difficulty for many here in San Diego, in Israel, and around the world.

Caring for Jews in need – wherever they are and whenever they need us – is at the heart of what we do at Jewish Federation of San Diego. And this year, you helped us care in a big way.

Thanks to your support, our Federation:

  • Sent more than $4 million to our Israeli sister region Sha’ar HaNegev to support critical relief and recovery efforts in the wake of the devastating attacks of October 7. So far, these funds have been used to purchase generators, relocate evacuees, renovate critical community spaces, build youth resilience and trauma processing programs, and much more.
  • Contributed an additional $1.3 million to Jewish Federations of North America’s Israel Emergency Fund to support post-October 7 relief efforts across the country.
  • Helped ensure the distribution of food, medical resources and other critical supplies to hundreds of thousands of victims of wildfires in Hawaii and earthquakes in Morocco.
  • Ensured local Holocaust survivors and other low-income seniors have access to the care and services they need by granting more than $165,000 to our partners at Jewish Family Service of San Diego (JFS).
  • Launched a San Diego chapter of Dignity Grows to address hygiene poverty in the region by providing comprehensive hygiene kits, complete with a month’s supply of essentials and period products, to be distributed for free by our partners at JFS, Hillel of San Diego, Kindness Initiative and Coastal Roots Farm as they come across individuals in need.
As we close this fiscal year, we ask for your help once more. Your donation today will enable us to continue providing essential support to those who need it most.

Please consider making a gift to help us reach our year-end goal and ensure that we can keep making a difference. Your contribution, no matter the size, will have a meaningful impact.
