  1. What a terrific review! I couldn’t agree more. I was privileged to read an Advanced Review Copy of this gem of a book. As you say, the author takes us inside her terrifying experience in a way that is immediate and accessible – which makes for a gripping read. However, she does so while accompanying us with the thoughtful observations of a woman who has spent a lifetime coming to terms with this public event in a deeply personal way. This intersection of an older and younger self is exactly what the best memoirs can bring alive.
