  1. Very true!
Although my family was not barred from Olympic Games, my grandfather lost his leather goods business in Germany, my uncle was thrown out of the stock exchange, my father kicked out of public school, my grandparents deported and murdered..
Their homes and valuables were all stolen.
This summer my two sisters and their husbands and myself and husband were invited back to Frankfurt, as a measure of friendship . We were together with other families who also lost their heritage in Frankfurt. We were given many opportunities to remember and learn about our roots. The people who participated in this program were exceedingly sincere about embracing us.
I would never want to live there or get a German citizenship. But it felt right to be embraced by a culture that once hated us and now feel some remorse!!!
