Survey: American Jews Feel Financially Vulnerable

LA MESA, California – Hebrew Free Loans of San Diego’s Executive Director, Mindi Frankel, attended the International Association of Jewish Free Loans conference. She connected with 29 other free loan agencies. The conference provided invaluable insights, including data from JFNA showing that up to 61% of the Jewish population feels “structurally vulnerable,” meaning they worry that their incomes are or will be insufficient to meet the needs of their families, while 23% consider themselves personally financially vulnerable. This event includes a drop-off and pick-up service for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. La Mesa Pizzaworks, a kosher pizza restaurant in La Mesa, reports it will be open every Saturday night from 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Click here to view the menu. It also reports that it is now selling its made-from-scratch ranch dressing in-store.

San Diego Hebrew Day School reports its largest fundraiser of the year – Charidy Campaign 2025 is accepting donations. Click here to support its goal of $700,000.

SCY High reports Rabbi Adatto and Mr. Brownell showed students how to use an astrolabe which is a device for telling time based on the position of the sun in reference to the time of year. This device could be used in telling time in general and also for Halachic purposes, in this case Mincha Ketana.

OBITUARY NOTICES

Barbara Goodman, mother of Yosef Goodman, has died. The funeral was held Sunday, Nov. 16, at El Camino Memorial Park, Chabad of Carmel Valley reports.

Melvin Penner has died. The funeral was held in Paramus, NJ, Ohr Shalom Synagogue reports.
