ANAHEIM, California — On our last day bouncing between Disneyland and California Adventure, I stumbled on a charming little window display on Buena Vista Street in the California Adventure theme park.
From what I’ve gathered, Julius Katz is a fictional Jewish character inspired by Julius the Cat — an early Walt Disney creation that came before Mickey Mouse. Imagine if Julius had become famous instead… we’d all be flocking to a land of cats and dodging “Goofy” dogs!
The window was decorated with a dreidel garland and a lit (lightbulb) menorah set for the 8th night of Chanukah. Inside the window display of the “clock and repair shop” there wasn’t any additional Chanukah décor, but it was still lovely to see that subtle nod to the tribe amid the hustle of people rushing to rides.
And, as I say every year when we head back down on the interstate 5 South back to San Diego: “Until next time, Mickey!”
