SAN DIEGO –This weekend, communities across the country, including here in San Diego County, will gather in peaceful protest to honor the life of Renee Good, a U.S. citizen and mother who was killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. Her life mattered. Her family deserves answers. And the public deserves accountability.
What has followed her death is deeply troubling. Instead of transparency and responsibility, the federal response has been deflection and silence. When government power is met with secrecy rather than accountability, it is the responsibility of the public to speak out.
Peaceful protest is how people have always defended democracy. It is how civil rights were won and how abuses of power are confronted. Nonviolence is our collective strength, exercised with discipline, dignity, and care for one another.
I am calling on our community to raise your voices peacefully and safely, grounded in the belief that no one is above the law and every life deserves accountability.
Peaceful demonstrations are planned across San Diego County this weekend. If you are able, I encourage you to join with courage, compassion, and respect for safety and one another.
Planned actions include:
Encinitas — Saturday at 3 PM
Pacific Beach — Saturday at 10 AM
Del Mar — Saturday at 11 AM
Mira Mesa — Saturday at 12 PM
Escondido — Sunday at 2:30 PM
You can find the full list of actions, times, and locations here. This moment demands moral clarity. Let us meet it together.
