Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law mourns the passing of board member Dr. Richard Cravatts, a distinguished scholar, educator, and long-time advocate against anti-Semitism. Brandeis Center Chairman and CEO Kenneth L. Marcus issued the following statement:
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and esteemed board member, Dr. Richard Cravatts, who devoted his life to confronting antisemitism with moral clarity, intellectual rigor, and courage. For decades, Richard educated, wrote, and spoke with remarkable conviction and integrity. His advocacy helped shape the modern fight against antisemitism and inspired countless others to stand up for truth in the face of hostility.

His wisdom, generosity, good humor, and unwavering commitment to justice strengthened the Brandeis Center and left an indelible mark on our mission. His contributions to our work and to the broader effort to combat antisemitism and defend civil rights will continue to guide us. We extend our deepest condolences to Richard’s family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched. May his memory be for a blessing.”
