LOS ANGELES (Press Release) —
As the 2026 midterm elections conclude, RabbisUnited sends an unequivocal message to every newly elected and returning government official, regardless of political affiliation: The Jewish people’s historical, cultural, and spiritual connection to the Land of Israel dates back millennia.
As leaders of Jewish communities across America, we expect our elected representatives to be accountable for their words and their actions. That includes the vital work of combating antisemitism and maintaining a strong U.S.-Israel alliance that benefits the American people, deters genocidal regimes and terrorist groups that seek Israel’s destruction, and advances peace.
Throughout this election cycle, we have heard deeply troubling rhetoric from certain candidates and their allies concerning the Jewish community, Israel, Zionism, and America’s longstanding relationship with the world’s only Jewish state.
While criticism of Israeli governmental policies is legitimate, demonizing Israel and its supporters, denying Jewish rights to self-determination, and promoting discriminatory double standards crosses a fundamental line.
Since the horrific massacre on October 7, 2023, when Hamas murdered over 1,200 people and kidnapped 251 more, we have seen an alarming resurgence of antisemitism throughout the United States and around the world.
Jewish students have faced harassment on college campuses, synagogues and Jewish institutions have confronted increased threats, and Jewish Americans have increasingly experienced hostility because of their identity and connection to Israel. Though Jews are only around 2% of the U.S. population, we have been targeted by over 60% of hate crimes based on religion since October 7, 2023.
The Jewish community should never have to choose between openly expressing its Jewish identity, supporting Israel’s right to exist, and feeling safe in the United States.
The relationship between the United States and Israel has endured through Democratic and Republican administrations for decades. It must never become a political bargaining chip or casualty of partisan divisions.
As campaign rhetoric gives way to the responsibilities of governing, we expect elected officials to demonstrate moral clarity, reject antisemitism in all its manifestations, protect Jewish communities, and reaffirm America’s longstanding commitment to Israel’s security.
RabbisUnited is non-partisan and therefore not beholden to any political party and is committed to working constructively with leaders across the political spectrum. We will carefully examine the statements, legislative initiatives, and voting records of elected officials from both parties, and we will remain engaged and vocal. We will acknowledge those who demonstrate principled leadership and we will speak out when elected officials fail to confront antisemitism or promote anti-Israel policies that would harm Americans and Israelis alike.
We are watching. We are listening. We will hold our elected officials accountable. And when necessary, we will speak with a clear, united, and unwavering voice.
