East County Jewish Organizations Sigh with Relief Over City Council’s Decision to Keep Lake Murray Open

June 11, 2025

LA MESA, California – On Wednesday, June 11, The Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation shared the good news that Lake Murray will remain open on weekdays.

The San Diego City Council has approved modifications to the FY2026 budget that includes a restoration of weekday access to Lake Murray. This means Lake Murray will remain open to the public seven days a week, with access to the parking lots and restrooms.

This decision follows strong advocacy from the community and several City Council members particularly Councilmember Raul Campillo (D-7), whose district includes Mission Trails and Lake Murray.

This was a huge sigh of relief for the women who attended “Walking Wednesdays” at 9 a.m., led by Rebbetzin Chaya Andrusier of Chabad of East County. Click here to join the WhatsApp group.
