SAN DIEGO (Press Release) — Jewish Federation of San Diego is closely monitoring rapidly evolving developments in the Middle East following joint U.S. and Israeli military strikes against Iranian regime targets and subsequent retaliatory actions by Iran and its proxies. We join Jewish Federations of North America in praying for the success of these efforts and for the safety of the U.S. Armed Forces and Israel Defense Forces personnel involved.
Our community is invited to join Jewish Federations of North America for a special briefing on the rapidly unfolding conflict between Israel, the United States, and Iran. Haviv Rettig Gur will provide timely analysis of the latest developments.
Briefing: Israel & the United States at War with Iran, Sunday, March 1 at 12pm ET (9am PT). Register now.
At this time, there are no known specific or credible threats to Jewish facilities in San Diego County. We remain in active and ongoing coordination with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners. Out of an abundance of caution, local law enforcement agencies are increasing patrols and maintaining heightened vigilance around Jewish institutions and communal spaces.
While there is no local threat, global events can have ripple effects. As Purim celebrations and other gatherings approach, we encourage you to participate fully, and to practice heightened situational awareness and adherence to all security protocols. If your institution is hosting a Purim event or any upcoming special program, please notify our Community Security Director so we can coordinate appropriately with law enforcement and provide event-specific guidance if needed.
We also anticipate the possibility of demonstrations or rallies related to current events. Peaceful protest is protected under law; however, organizations should remain attentive if activity occurs near their facilities or events. Avoid confrontation, prioritize de-escalation, and adjust routes or logistics as needed to maintain safety.
Jewish Federations of North America and Secure Community Network have issued additional security recommendations for Jewish institutions nationwide. We encourage all community leaders to review that guidance here.
Our Community Security Director remains available to assist with suspicious activity assessment, coordination with law enforcement, event security planning, facility reviews, and training. Proactive preparation and clear communication remain essential as we navigate this period of uncertainty together.
We will continue to provide updates as warranted.
