As this campaign year comes to a close, I am reminded of what our community can accomplish when we show up for one another, especially in moments that test us most.
The ongoing war in Israel, the long road to recovery, and rising antisemitism here at home have challenged our community in profound ways. Yet time and again, people have stepped forward to support one another, strengthen Jewish life, and ensure that Jewish community thrives and Jewish joy grows.
We saw that commitment when 1,300 people gathered alongside 26 partner organizations to mark two years since October 7. It continues through our enduring partnership with Sha’ar HaNegev as families move forward and begin to imagine what comes next. When residents were ready to create spaces for connection and belonging, Federation helped bring those dreams to life, supporting projects that included music rooms, community pubs, art exhibits, playgrounds, and more.
Alongside these efforts, we continued to invest in the experiences and relationships that bring people together. Through gatherings like FED360, leadership development programs, and transformative travel experiences, people deepened their connection to Jewish life, Israel, and one another. Chaplaincy care and Holocaust education continued to make a meaningful impact, including through Legacy of Light Goldberg Institute for Holocaust Education and the launch of Spark Interactive, marking an important step forward in how we teach the next generation about the Holocaust.
At the same time, one lesson has become increasingly clear based on attacks on Jews here in the U.S. and around the world. If Jewish life is to thrive, then security cannot be a concern on the sidelines. It is foundational to everything else we hope to build.
When a synagogue in Michigan was attacked, we saw firsthand the impact of investing in community security. Watch the video above to hear from parents and community members about that day and the difference preparedness made.
When people feel safe, they can gather in community, learn, celebrate, and build a vibrant Jewish future. That is why Federation continues to invest in security while strengthening Jewish life across our community.
