SAN DIEGO (Press Release) – San Diego City Councilwoman Marni von Wilpert is among the latest congressional endorsees of the Jewish Democratic Council of America in its quest to flip the House of Representatives from Republican control to Democratic control.
Her Republican opponent in the 48th Congressional District is County Supervisor Jim Desmond. Incumbent Republican Darrell Issa chose not to run for reelection.
In announcing its endorsement, JDCA stated:
“From serving in the Peace Corps in Botswana during the AIDS epidemic to founding a legal clinic to combat discrimination in the deep South, Marni has spent her life fighting for justice. A former prosecutor who flipped San Diego’s most conservative council district, she is now running to protect our freedoms and defend our shared values in Congress. As a Councilwoman, she led the initiative to bring a Holocaust education history exhibit to all San Diego libraries, and she’ll bring this experience to Congress.”
