Jewish Voice for Peace Action celebrates Angie Nixon’s victory in U.S. Senate primary

BERKELEY, California (Press Release) — Jewish Voice for Peace Action celebrates Angie Nixon’s victory in the Florida Democratic Party Primary for Senator. Nixon is a Democratic State Representative and champion for working families.

In November 2023, Angie introduced a ceasefire resolution in the Florida State Legislature. She has continued to be outspoken and unwavering in her calls to end U.S. military funding and weapons to Israel and to stop the genocide.

“The people are rising up against the political establishment that has failed them. The time is now for candidates like Nixon who champion working people and fight relentlessly to defend the rights of all people from Florida to Palestine,” said Stefanie Fox, Executive Director, Jewish Voice for Peace Action.

Nixon has spent her time in office delivering wins that expand childcare access, stop corporate price‑gouging, and that fight against DeSantis’s racist gerrymandering. Her victory comes on the heels of wins for pro-Palestine candidates across the country, including Abdul El-Sayed, Rashida Tlaib, Donavan McKinney in MI-13, Melat Kiros in CO-01 and Rabb in PA-03. This is all on top of the political earthquake in NYC earlier this summer when pro-Palestine candidates won up and down the ballot, let alone the victory of NYC Mayor Mamdani, also endorsed by JVPA.

Since its 2019 launch, JVPA has sought to center Palestinian rights in the broader progressive platform. And as JVPA comes up on its 7th birthday, the organization is now a key player in progressive politics, helping to propel candidates to office. Voters are making their wishes known: they want candidates who will invest in working people, divest from endless wars and stop the shipments of bombs destroying families in Palestine.
