Sarah Santiago, 17, is accused of aiding two teenagers who fatally shot three men at the Islamic Center of San Diego on May 18 before they drove away from the scene and committed suicide in their car. Santiago lives across the country in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where authorities said she live-streamed the attack by Cain Clark, 17, and Caleb Vazquez, 18, which took the lives of Nadir Awad, Mansour Kaziha, and Amin Abdullah, whose ages ranged from 51 to 78. Authorities said she also published a manifesto that the teens authored. Her attorney Alan Doorasamy Sr. said she had telephoned police in Winston-Salem and San Diego about the plot, but didn’t indicate whether the phone call came before or after the shooting. When she is arraigned, she will plead “not guilty,” the attorney said.

Kristoffer Wilhelm von Hassel pleaded innocent Thursday in Chula Vista Superior Court to a misdemeanor charge of tagging two homes in neighboring Imperial Beach with antisemitic and anti-LGBTQ graffiti. A hate crime enhancement was dropped by the prosecutor. Arrested at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday in a dark alley by sheriff’s deputies, Von Hassel was permitted after his arraignment to go home on his own recognizance.

The National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) voted on Fridau to recommend the one-year suspension of the federal recognition of the American Psychological Association Commission on Accreditation (APA-CoA).
In June, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced that it had opened a federal civil rights investigation into the American Psychological Association (APA) following a complaint from the Brandeis Center for Human Rights under Law alleging anti-Semitic discrimination within the nation’s largest professional organization for psychologists.
In a news release, the Brandeis Center stated: “NACIQI’s recommendation is not the Department of Education’s final decision. The Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education will receive NACIQI’s recommendation, the Department staff recommendation, the hearing transcript, third-party comments and testimony, and the underlying record before issuing the Department’s decision.”
