What is its future of Palestine? Who knows? Both the UAE and Bahrain have aligned themselves to Palestinian interests, but we can wonder how serious that is. European governments still adhere to a two-state solution, but how central are their concerns? American politicians also indicate their adherence to a two-state solution, but where does it sit in their various commitments? [Ira Sharkansky, Ph.D]

Loomer has also called Frankel “meshuggah” for praising Black Lives Matter, which Loomer falsely claims is aligned with radical Islamists, according to JTA. One of the two candidates is “meshuggah,” common Jewish term for crazy. You decide who fits that description. [Bruce S. Ticker]

Bruce Ticker, Middle East, USA“Old news” is perhaps the most dismissive way an editor can reject a suggestion from a reporter, or an outside contributor, about an issue that the media outlet should tackle. San Diego Jewish World promises never to consider the Holocaust “old news,” whatever form that news may come, be it in recollections of still-surviving Holocaust victims; the efforts of second and third generation survivors to measure the Holocaust’s impact on their lives and those of their children; the novelists and playwrights who retell Holocaust stories; or the efforts of some in the academic world to minimize or distort the Holocaust. “We don’t know anything about what happened to our (mutual) grandparents. Our parents never talked about them,” my American cousins told me when I visited them last year. The two sons of my mother’s brother, the late Dr. Kurt Hirsch, live comfortable lives in Virginia. Jack and Harry and their families maintain their connection with Israel and Judaism, and are loyal American citizens. [Dorothea Shefer-Vanson]

I also took into the sealed room a siddur that had been my mother’s, and one of my father’s, 1941 U.S. Army issue, so I could tell them I prayed from their prayer books. I ended the column, “We took into our sealed rooms fears, and uncertainty, and prayers. We must now ask ourselves what we brought out.” [Toby Klein Greenwald]

The Jewish and Zionist officials who gathered on the White House lawn this week for the signing of the Israel-UAE-Bahrain agreement seem to have heard only words of peace and friendship from the podium. But the Arab leaders who spoke at the ceremony said something very different. [Moshe Phillips]

As we approach these Days of Awe, I would like to share several stories that have touched me, and I think will touch you too about the people you, Jewish National Fund-USA, and I have supported over the past year. I’m going to tell you about an inspiring young lady who has come home to Israel; an incredible healthcare worker who has found a new way to connect with people with disabilities; an agricultural training center that’s bringing hope and prosperity to developing countries; and a story of how Jewish National Fund-USA is creating a global culinary capital in Israel’s north to feed the world. Guerrero adroitly compiles in a fast-moving, soundly researched 275 pages a text that connects the dots between Miller’s own history, personal stories of Trump and Miller’s victims, backstage intrigue and shocking events thanks in part to Miller’s engineering. Miller, who predictably would not cooperate with Guerrero, is part of a hard-right network that has long sought the kinds of ultra-conservative policies the current White House is attempting to implement.
