By Alex Gordon HAIFA, Israel — After most intellectuals stopped reading and studying the Bible, it became fashionable to declare secular writers, philosophers, and scientists to be prophets, predictors of the future. The biblical meaning of prophets has been lost, so the ranks of prophets include authors who were alien to being counted as part

By Bruce S. Ticker PHILADELPHIA — As the competing votes tracked upward on the Congressional scoreboard last Thursday, my memory summoned up a moment more than two decades ago when I spotted an anti-Israel sketch posted on a bulletin board. It featured a message that compared Israel to the civil rights struggles in the South.

By Ira Sharkansky, Ph.D JERUSALEM — Israel’s government has an edge in the Knesset, but it’s only four seats. And there is substantial opposition to what its extreme members are proposing to do with the judiciary. One option is for a Knesset majority able to override the Supreme Court’s opposition to a Knesset law or

By Steve Kramer KFAR SABA, Israel — There’s way too much hysteria from the left wing over proposed legislation in Israel’s parliament, the Knesset. Where do world leaders like Secretary of State Antony Blinken and French President Emmanuel Macron get the chutzpah to lecture Israel’s elected representatives? It’s bad enough that the leaders of Israel’s

By Eric George Tauber CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Museum Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, was originally built as the Union Terminal train station in 1933. As travel by train declined, the building received its last passengers in 1972, later re-opening as an Amtrak station in 1991 and then being refurbished as the Museum Center in 2018.

Craven now has been “cancelled” by the unforgiving academic community. The irony of this is that were it not for Bill Craven, Cal State San Marcos would not have existed in the first place. He fought the uphill legislative battle to win approval for the construction of that campus. Opponents noted that San Diego County already had San Diego State University, whereas other parts of the state didn’t have even one state university campus, much less two, in addition to a campus of the University of California. California, Donald H. Harrison, Opinion, Science, Medicine, & Education, Travel and Food, USAHouse Republicans did not do a favor for Israel nor the American Jewish community when they kicked Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minnesota, off the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Instead, they turned her into a political martyr, thereby magnifying her importance among progressives and potentially fueling antisemitism. [Donald H. Harrison]

Donald H. Harrison, Israel, Opinion, USABy Bruce S. Ticker PHILADELPHIA — When Eric Goldstein speaks, Benjamin Netanyahu must listen. Even more so than when others speak, such as U.S. Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), Israeli business executive Eynat Guez, 100,000-plus protesters in Tel Aviv and Israeli expats in New York and Los Angeles. What Goldstein tells Israel’s prime minister can be

By Jerry Klinger Touristing — better known as cultural travel, especially historical travel to see the places of events, and meaning to the American experience, preferably without resentful teenagers — is great. Jerry Klinger, Jewish History, Opinion, USAAfter nine days as dean of students at a middle school, Michael Woodberg resigned. The offense? Being Jewish. His bosses are not antisemitic. Nor is there evidence of rampant antisemitism among the students. In early January, the Richmond Community Schools received frightening threats directed at Woodberg and other staff at the middle school. The school district serves a rural area 45 miles northeast of Detroit. [Bruce S. Ticker]

The naming of Professor Rabab Abdulhadi, director of the SFSU’s Arab and Muslim Ethnicities and Diasporas Studies (AMED) program, for MESA’s 2022 award reveals both the pathological animus against Israel harbored by the group and also its willingness to reward Abdulhadi for her execrable record of radical anti-Israel, antisemitic campus activism at San Francisco State University.
