Solel, Beth Am utilize On-Line Learning

SPRINGFIELD, N.J. (Press Release)–Congregation Beth Am and Temple Solel in San Diego County, California, have partnered with Behrman House, the leading publisher of textbooks and multi-media educational materials for Jewish religious schools, to bring the company’s Online Learning Center (OLC) to the fingertips of Hebrew students and teachers alike. Behrman House introduced the OLC last year partly due to the decreasing amount of time available for Hebrew education. The OLC is a digital platform where teachers can create and students can access dynamic Jewish educational materials at any time, from any computer.

“We are committed to helping our religious educational partners reach a younger generation of students in a digital format they use all the time,” said David Behrman, president and publisher of Behrman House. “By participating in engaging programs and meaningful experiences on their own terms, students can develop lifelong ties to their Jewish heritage and community.”

The OLC helps significantly with Hebrew language as it allows teachers to provide instruction in the classroom and then extend that time by enabling students to continue their studies online at home.  It also allows students to work at their own pace, both individually and in small groups.

Congregation Beth Am and Temple Solel are just two of the over 300 schools and tutorial groups using the OLC, which now serves over 4,500 students nationwide. The OLC provides students and teachers with a private space to connect online through digital resources such as class blogs, student video presentations, online discussion groups, and content-rich video games. Behrman House partners with select content and technology providers to bring Jewish culture, customs, news, and events to life for students.
