Seacrest Village to honor Sylvia & David Geffen

ENCINITAS, California (Press Release) – For their philanthropic impact on the Jewish community and support of San Diego’s seniors, the Women’s Auxiliary of Seacrest Village Retirement Communities will honor Sylvia and David Geffen at the 36th Annual Gala on Saturday, February 1, at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine in San Diego, California.

With a theme of “Sapphire Jubilee” and a focus on raising monies for the Resident Assistance Fund, the Annual Gala will celebrate 70 years of philanthropic support for San Diego’s seniors. Hundreds of guests are expected to attend to support the scholarship program for current and future residents who might otherwise have nowhere to call home.

President of the Women’s Auxiliary and Trustee Mary Epsten:  “Our Annual Gala is particularly exciting this year because we are celebrating the 70th Anniversary of Seacrest Village by honoring the Geffens who exemplify our mission and values of promoting community, independence and innovation.”

Over the years, Sylvia and David Geffen have generously supported numerous organizations and projects that help promote Jewish traditions and culture. Their support crosses all generations, and we are grateful that their guidance and support has helped in the growth and evolution of Seacrest Village. Sylvia is the President of the Seacrest Foundation, which raises funds to support Seacrest Village in its service to the elderly, and is a senior partner in the SGS Group of Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC. David is a past president of the Jewish Community Center and is an international speaker on contact lenses and refractive surgery, and works with his team at Gordon-Weiss-Schanzlin Vision Institute. Both are extremely active in the San Diego community, serving on a number of nonprofit boards. The Geffen Family was involved when San Diego Hebrew Home for the Aged transitioned into Seacrest Village Retirement Communities. Sylvia’s mother, Sigrid Fischer, was one of the original leaders of the Women’s Auxiliary and helped to raise funds for many years through her work on the Annual Gala.  A bus at Seacrest Village today is called “Sigrid’s Shuttle!”

Sylvia and David have three beautiful children, Brian, Michelle and Nikki, and they were recently blessed with the marriage of their son, Brian, to their new daughter-in-law Amanda. We hope you will join us as we celebrate the past, present and future of Seacrest Village while honoring a most deserving and beautiful couple, Sylvia and David Geffen.
