NEW YORK (Press Release)–The Jewish Agency for Israel Board of Governors on Thursday, recognized Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, for its significant contributions to the State of Israel and its people, particularly its active role in the establishment of Israel’s medical infrastructure.
Further, the Board of Governors called upon the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Health to “support a true and enduring recovery plan for the Hadassah Hospitals.” This call-to-action was delivered at a crucial time for HWZOA, as the Hadassah Medical Organization (HMO) continues to work with court-appointed trustees to develop and implement a recovery plan following its Section 350 filing earlier this month.
Marcie Natan, Hadassah National President, issued this statement:
“We are grateful for the support of The Jewish Agency Board of Governors– not only for the weight it bears, but because it serves as an important reminder to all involved parties that we must work together now to ensure HMO’s status as one of the premier hospitals in the world. We stand with the Board of Governors in urging all parties to advance long-term stability and strength of the hospitals. Although still healing, we remain confident that HMO will emerge stronger than ever.”
HWZOA has launched a dedicated page on its website at www.hadassah.org/HMOupdate and will continue to provide regular updates throughout the recovery process.
