WASHINGTON, D.C. (Press Release) — Constituents living in the 53rd Congressional District will have a chance to get tickets to watch Pope Francis speak to Congress on September 24, 2015 as part of his visit to the United States.
As she has done in the past for tickets to presidential inaugurations, Congresswoman Susan Davis (D-California will hold a drawing to give away 50 tickets for standing room only spots on the West Front Lawn of the U.S. Capitol where the speech will be telecast. Pope Francis will deliver his speech inside the House chamber. Winners of the drawing must be constituents of the 53rd Congressional District and must pick up their tickets in Washington.
Demand will likely exceed supply but interested constituents are encouraged to enter the drawing at Davis’s website – susandavis.house.gov. The deadline to enter is August 18, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. (PDT). Davis will select constituents at random. The winners will be announced August 24, 2015.
These are standing room only tickets and winners should be prepared to stand outside for an extended period. All accommodations and flights to Washington, D.C. are the responsibility of the winners.
