SAN DIEGO (Press Release) – Chabad Hebrew Academy and the various Chabad houses within San Diego County are staging a one day fundraiser beginning at noon Wednesday, Sept. 9, and ending at noon Thursday, Sept.10, with the object of raising $1.1 million for the many Chabad institutions in the county.
Each Chabad unit is in charge of its own fundraising, so for example the Chabad Hebrew Academy seeks to raise $770,000, while one of the newest Chabad centers, Chabad of East County, has set a goal of $30,000.
With various donors having already promised to give $4 for every $1 raised, the fundraising goal doesn’t appear as daunting as the $1.1 million figure might suggest. Nevertheless, the drive is expected to create quite a stir locally on Facebook and other Social Media, as rabbis and other Chabad members urge the movement’s supporters to donate.
The Chabad Hebrew Academy plans to use the money it raises for solar installations on its campus, scholarships, and Holiday Chessed programs for the poor. Such individual Chabad centers as the one in East County plans to use the money for scholarships for pupils who study Hebrew following their public school classes and for other programming.
More information about the one-day campaign may be accessed beginning at noon, Sept. 9, via the website charidy.com/millionforchabadsd.
