NEW YORK — Donald Trump has shocked the political world once more by “confiding” in a series of Tweets that he is seriously considering asking Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to be his running mate for Vice President.

He acknowledged that the Justice has a long record of liberal opinions, but said that very fact makes her even more attractive as his running mate. “I’ve often dealt with people who started out on the other side, and in no time came around to my side. By time I finish dealing with Ruthie, she’ll  be so much in my corner, you’ll think she’s Sarah Palin.”

He added, *She was a cheerleader, you know, and frankly she’ll be cheering her lungs out for me.”

Possibly the most important element in a Ginsburg run for the Vice Presidency , Trump contended, is that she’d have to leave the Court, which, he said, would  affect the balance and  guarantee “many, many” decisions that would be victories for conservatives, contrasted with the “rigged” ones made previously..

As to her page-one interview with the New York Times Monday, in which she blasted him, Trump reiterated that he’s used to people saying nasty things about him. Many of his rivals for the Republican nomination for President attacked him “maliciously,”but, are now begging to get into my campaign.” In the Times interview, Justie Ginsburg said,  I can’t imagine what the country would be — with Donald Trump as our president…for the country, it could be four years. For the court, it could be — I don’t even want to contemplate that..I can’t imagine what this place would be.”

Asked to comment, Trump declared,”I like people who aren’t too p.c.to  speak their mind, women included.”

And, he added, “she’s smart, very smart, almost as smart as I am…and, besides, she’ll get along great with my grandchildren.”

The presumptive Republican nominee  acknowledged that, at 83, Justice Ginsburg was “no spring chicken.” But, he said, “the Bernie followers certainly weren’t put off by age, and Ruthie is a woman and Jewish — all plus factors.”

Whether she’d accept his offer was a question, he admitted. “But if she’s foolish enough to say no, it would be her loss.”
