I presume this rabbi has similar quandaries defending the United States when so many problems continue to threaten our democracy. What a disgusting and misguided position – particularly from a rabbi! He’s ready to throw Israel to the wolves because she has not yet reached the perfection the rabbi imagines. Does he have equally high standards for other countries? Of course not. Perhaps while in DC he’ll learn that without the United States, and AIPAC’s efforts, Israel would be in a deeply precarious position in the world. Would the rabbi be willing to let israel disappear just because he doesn’t approve of a social policy? Shame shame shame.
