SDEROT, Israel (Press Release) — MDA (Magen David Adom) volunteers took time from saving lives and on the eve of Memorial Day and Independence Day went to distribute over 1,000 packages of snacks to soldiers who are stationed along the Gaza border, and Gush Etzion. The volunteers met the Golani and Tank Corps soldiers, and thanked them for their work, and keeping the citizens of Israel safe.
MDA Volunteer Ofer Pritzman Shemer, who lost his father Major Nahum Shemer, a commander in the 14th Tank Brigade Reconnaissance Forces, on the Southern front in the Yom Kippur War: “For me personally, taking part in this project is very special. As the son of a bereaved family, distributing packages to the soldiers and seeing their excitement and smiles showed me just how much one simple act can warm someone’s heart.”
MDA Director General, Eli Bin: “For 70 years, the IDF soldiers have worked night and day for the safety of Israel’s citizens. We at MDA, wanted to say thank you and sweeten their time away from their family on Memorial Day and Independence Day. I extend my thanks to the MDA volunteers who did this important job and wish the IDF soldiers a Happy Independence Day, and to come home safe.”
