A Word of Torah: Parashot Miketz

SAN DIEGO — One of the most iconic prayers of Chanukah is the Al HaNisim, where we thank God for the miracles that have been performed for us throughout history, from the ancient times with the Maccabees through today. While there are many miracles that we celebrate which are specific to the Chanukah Season, the one that always seems to resonate with me is that in light of everything that the Jewish people have experienced, we are still here, have the ability to come together, and celebrate our holidays together, freely.

This Shabbat is not like any other Shabbat. As we come together to celebrate Shabbat and Chanukah, we will be exploring the Conservative Movements (relatively) new Siddur, prayer book, Lev Shalem.

Click here to see a copy of Chanukah’s Al HaNisim, as it is laid out in  Siddur Lev Shalem. I want to encourage all of us to look at the words of the Al HaNisim, recite it, and embrace it, as we give thanks for the many miracles in our lives, this joyous holiday season.

Wishing you all a Happy Chanukah and Shabbat Shalom.
