Our Shtetl San Diego County: Charlene Seidle Becomes President and CEO of Leichtag Foundation

March 4, 2024
Charlene Seidle

ENCINITAS, California (SDJW) — As of this month, Charlene Seidle has stepped up from executive vice president to president and CEO of the Leichtag Foundation, succeeding Jim Farley, who has been named as executive chair of the Foundation.

Farley said: “This step reflects the overall strategy of the Foundation as we plan for our future as a limited-life foundation and our phased transition to three independent successor organizations, two based in San Diego and one in Israel: Coastal Roots Farm; Impact Cubed, which will assume ownership of Leichtag Commons; and Jerusalem Philanthropy Initiatives.”

He added that Seidle has been a longtime leader of the Foundation, first in a shared capacity with the Jewish Community Foundation of San Diego, and later as the executive vice president. In his own new role, Farley said, he will focus on Leichtag Commons “as well as overall strategy, business sustainability planning and governance.”

GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS

In advance of tomorrow’s election, Run Women Run has endorsed three Jewish women running for office in San Diego County Districts. They are incumbent Congresswoman Sara Jacobs, incumbent County Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer, and Gina Jacobs, who is challenging incumbent Joel Anderson in the 2nd Supervisorial District. All three are Democrats. Another Jewish woman, running in neighboring Orange County for the seat Katie Porter is vacating to run in the race for U.S. Senate, is Joanna Weiss, also a Democrat. She comments: “CA-47 is one of the most competitive races and vulnerable seats in the country. Whoever wins here could control the House majority – which is why it’s critical we stop our extremist, unethical opponents in their tracks with a win on March 5th.”
