Pomegranates and Nine Jewish Facts About Them As Rosh Hashanah Approaches

As I am keeping an eye on a neighbor’s pomegranate tree, I wonder each year if they will be ripe and ready before Rosh Hashanah. For many years, we picked buckets full, and for a few years, it’s been just a couple. Every year, I leave a note in their mailbox asking when or if my kids can come and pick from their trees. I always sign the note, from your friendly neighborhood Jew. Giggle.

Philippines’ Rescue of the Jews Presentation Set for August 18

Pulmonologist Mandel to tell of COVID-19 in two Californias

Jess Mandel, M.D., a board certified pulmonologist, will review the development and execution of COVID-19 surge planning at UCSD and in San Diego County at a 7 p.m., meeting on Wednesday, June 9, sponsored by the Beth Israel Men’s Club.  Additionally, he will discuss the collaborations that developed with hospitals and health care workers in Imperial County and northern Baja California.
