Lawrence Family JCC Prepares for 2022 JCC Maccabi Games

The leadership of the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center JACOBS FAMILY CAMPUS is pleased to announce that 2022 will mark the return of the JCC Maccabi Games® after a two-year hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic. We couldn’t be more excited that in exactly one year from today, the Games will begin. Additionally, we are thrilled to be the pilot site for JCC Maccabi Access – giving Jewish teens with cognitive and developmental disabilities a meaningful and integrated JCC Maccabi experience. The 2022 JCC Maccabi Games® and Access, the largest organized Jewish teen sports experience in North America, will be hosted in San Diego from July 31 to August 5, 2022. [Lawrence Family JCC]

Three Jewish Brothers Honored as First Round NHL Picks

Three Jewish brothers became the first American family to have three siblings picked in the first round of the National Hockey League (NHL) Draft.

Luke Hughes, 17, became the third brother in his family to be drafted by the NHL when it was announced last Friday that he would play for the New Jersey Devils during the 2021 NHL Draft live from the Prudential Center. What Are We Entitled To?

As I have started to go out to restaurants and stores, I have noticed several instances of unacceptable behaviors towards waiters, salespeople, and other customer-service personnel. The loud blowup about a wrong order or slowness of service made me think about what people feel entitled to, like getting the expected services in a timely manner. In The Boston Globe (7/16/21) I read that “some restaurant owners in Massachusetts described customers who are lashing out at employees when they can’t be seated right away or endure longer wait times for their food.” These customers’ behaviors made the staff cry.
