Danny Yatom, a former Mossad chief, to address Friends of IDF in San Diego Oct. 30

SAN DIEGO (Press Release) – A former head of Israel’s Mossad security service, Maj. Gen. Danny Yatom, will be the featured speaker at a Friends of the Israel Defense Forces kosher dinner on Saturday, Oct. 30, at La Jolla Hilton Torrey Pines, 10950 North Torrey Pines Road.   A reception will begin at 7:15 p.m. with dinner following at 8:15 p.m. Cocktail attire will be the order of the evening, according to local volunteers Dan and Nina Brodsky.

Yatom, a Labor party member, was Mossad chief from 1996 to 1998 and also served as a chief of staff  when Ehud Barak was Israel’s prime minister.  Yatom served in the Knesset from 2003 to 2008.

The dinner will also salute San Diegans who have actively supported Israel and the soldiers of the IDF, according to Julian Josephson, FIDF chairman.   The honorees include Randi and Charles Wax, owner of Waxie Snitary Supply; Elizabeth & Carl Allen Sr. of Heritage Plastics and Gigi and Carl Allen Jr., also of Heritage Plastics.

Other San Diego chapter officers of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces include Norman Smith, vice chairman, and Nir Ben Zvi, executive director.
