Jewish communal activist Maggie Silverman dies

LA JOLLA, California (Press Release) — Marian (Maggie) Silverman, wife of Sid, and mother of Scott Silverman (Michelle), Marsi Gardiner (Eric), Stacy Halberg (Jon) and Gregg Silverman, Z’l,  died on Wednesday, July 2,  it was announced by Pam Ferris, CEO of Seacrest Village Retirement Homes. A graveside service is planned for Monday, July 7, at 2pm at El Camino Memorial Park followed by a reception at the La Jolla home of Scott and Michelle Silverman,. A Shiva Minyan  will also be held at their home Monday evening at 7pm.  Address and directions may be obtained from Seacrest Village at (760) 632-0081.

“Maggie Silverman was a  former board member and longtime supporter of the San Diego Hebrew Homes,” Ferris said. “She was an active member of our Women’s Auxiliary and a very important advisor and friend to all of us at Seacrest Village. We extend our deepest sympathy to the Silverman family at this most difficult time. Our community has lost a very special lady who will be sorely missed.”
