Father Joe’s Villages’ leader to address CBI Men’s Club

SAN DIEGO (Press Release) — Deacon Jim Vargas of Father Joe’s Villages will be guest speaker at Beth Israel Men’s Club’s dinner forum on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 6:30 p.m. He will provide  an overview on the “Recent Trends in Homelessness and Housing”.

Vargas assumed his current role in February 2015 leading a team providing the services and support for homeless persons as they gain self-sufficiency.  He oversees all facets of the organization, including St. Vincent de Paul Village, Toussaint Center, Josue Homes and their portfolio of affordable housing.

Vargas is a past board chairman of the Rady Children’s Hospital of San Diego Foundation, founding chair of Epiphany Prep Charter School of San Diego, current chair of Totus Pro Deo and Casa Cornelia Law Center and serves on the board of The Resource Center for Community Development.

He is a deacon of the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego serving the community of Mary, Star of the Sea in La Jolla, previously having served the community of Our Lady of Angels in downtown San Diego.

The Men’s Club program is open to the entire San Diego community, both men and women. Temple or Men’s Club membership is not a requirement to attend. A buffet dinner will be served.
