Humoring the headlines: September 17, 2017

SAN DIEGO−The World Clowns Association has picketed screenings of the movie It carrying signs that read: “Black, white, and red faces matter.”

Both houses of Congress passed a congressional resolution condemning the white nationalist march in Charlottesville, Virginia.  President Trump signed it despite his continuing insistence that the anti-racist protesters were equally guilty for instigating violence there.  This, in turn, prompted both houses of Congress to pass a continuing resolution retracting whatever Trump says in the future about the Alt Right.

In a related story President Donald Trump met with South Carolina’s Republican Senator Tim Scott to explain his Charlottesville comments.  The White House communique about the meeting erroneously referred to Tom Scott which some in the African-American community felt demeaned the Senator as an Uncle Tom.  Trump corrected the mistake in the next press release highlighting his fruitful discussions on race in America with Senator Dred Scott.

Harvard appointed Sean Spicer as a Visiting Fellow at its Institute of Politics.  Not to be outdone, Trump University named Anthony Scaramucci a Visiting Good Fellow at its School of Fake Communications.

The Handmaid’s Tale, a drama series about a dystopian society where women are forced to bear children, garnered 5 Emmys including the award for the Best Dramatic Series.  Fox News is exploring the possibility of a reality TV show based on the same premise titled The Real Women of Texas.
