Chef Tanis to discuss cuisine Nov. 6 at LFJCC

LA JOLLA, California (Press Release) – The San Diego Center for Jewish Culture will be hosting, An Evening with David Tanis – Monday, November 6 at 7pm. Join David Tanis, whose career includes nearly 25 years as chef at Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California, as he demonstrates that fabulous food does not have to be fussy.

Besides being the author of award-winning cookbooks (A Platter of Figs and Other Recipes, named one of the 50 best cookbooks ever), he writes the weekly “City Kitchen” column for the Food Section of New York Times and has been featured in Bon Appétit, Cooking Light, the Wall Street Journal, and countless others.

Tanis has spent many years as chef with Alice Waters at Chez Panisse restaurant in Berkeley, California; he managed the kitchen of Café Escalera in Santa Fe, New Mexico; and he operated a successful private supper club.

Passionate about simple, seasonal home cooking Tanis finds inspiration at farmers’ markets. He is also inspired by his travel and exploration of many regional cuisines of Europe, Asia, and the Americas. His latest cookbook Market Cooking: Recipes and Revelations, Ingredient by Ingredient In Market Cooking, Artisan, published October 3, 2017 has earned the title of one of Publishers Weekly’s Top 10 Cookbooks for Fall 2017.

Tanis will be showcasing Market Cooking where he shares 200 recipes with a special emphasis on ingredients from all over the world that bring flavor, uniqueness, and joy, to the art of cooking — and eating. Market Cooking is Tanis most ambitious book to date.
