American immigrants to Israel celebrate Thanksgiving

Hundreds of Olim gathered in different parts of Israel Thursday night for traditional Thanksgiving dinners, hosted by Nefesh B’Nefesh.

Events were held at the NBN Tel Aviv Hub, Mahane Yehuda Market in Jerusalem, as well as Haifa and Beer Sheva as part of the KKL – NBN Go Beyond joint initiative. Olim enjoyed traditional Thanksgiving turkey and seasonal side dishes in order to evoke a taste of this nostalgic holiday.

The Thanksgiving events are an example of how Nefesh B’Nefesh strives to assist new immigrants acclimate, integrate and thrive in Israel through its post-Aliyah programming.

“Through our Thanksgiving programming, we are helping Anglos in Israel celebrate this family-oriented holiday in a warm setting with their newfound family of friends and fellow Olim,” said Rabbi Yehoshua Fass, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Nefesh B’Nefesh. “This is a time for Olim to reflect and feel thankful for their new lives in Israel and appreciate the new lives and traditions they have created here.” — From Nefesh B’Nefesh

Americans for Peace Now tracks activities of U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman

Americans for Peace Now (APN) has announced that it will now track and publicize the activities of the U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman.

“In it, we provide the definitive record of the words and deeds of David Friedman, President Trump’s former bankruptcy lawyer and current US Ambassador to Israel,” APN said in a statement. “Based on his actions and statements, and thanks to our discussions with informed insiders, we know that this long-time supporter of West Bank settlements is the chief architect of the Trump administration’s drive to kill the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“When Trump nominated Friedman as ambassador, APN produced a compendium of his own statements, clearly showing that he was not fit for the job. We rallied opposition to his confirmation. And after he was narrowly confirmed and reneged on the promises he made to Senators to keep his personal politics to himself, we led a campaign to get him fired.

“Now, in The Friedman File, we provide a detailed timeline as a window not only onto the activities of Ambassador Friedman, but also into the Trump team’s systematic effort to whitewash Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and dismantle the effort to achieve Palestinian statehood.”
