Jewish National Fund-USA President and First Lady Host San Diego Young Philanthropists for First-Ever ‘Root Society’ Event

SAN DIEGO (Press Release) — On August 6, 2023, young philanthropists who are members of Jewish National Fund-USA’s JNFuture Root Society were welcomed into the San Diego home of the organization’s President, Dr. Sol Lizerbram and First Lady Lauren Lizerbram for the community’s inaugural Root Society event.

Event co-chair and JNFuture San Diego Board Member, Danielle Gaffen, led a Q&A with the Lizerbrams and the ambassadors (donors) who are members of the organization’s major donor giving society for young professionals between the ages of 22-40. The dynamic duo discussed how they originally got involved in Jewish National Fund-USA, shared some words of inspiration, and talked about some of their favorite JNF-USA projects that build a strong, vibrant future for the land and people of Israel.

The Lizerbrams also encouraged everyone to join thousands of Israel supporters and hundreds of young philanthropists at the Global Conference for Israel (jnf.org), taking place from November 30-December 3, 2023, in Denver.

“For years, these incredible community members have been told that they are the ‘leaders of tomorrow,’ yet the truth is they are already at the forefront of our incredible Zionist movement,” said Dr. Lizerbram. “Seeing the way our San Diego young professionals and Ambassadors are stepping up and making such a monumental difference, giving their time, effort, and philanthropic support to the land and people of Israel, makes me optimistic that our present and our future are in good hands.”

One of the organization’s initiatives heavily touted by the Lizerbrams was the upcoming World Zionist Village in Be’er Sheva, a 20-acre campus that will spark a new and all-encompassing global conversation about the future of Zionism. The campus, the largest philanthropic capital project of its type, will also serve as the second home for Jewish National Fund-USA’s Alexander Muss High School in Israel, provide an Innovation Center for post-graduates interning in Be’er Sheva-based hi-tech companies, and include a Zionist Adult Education Center.

In addition to Gaffen, attendees heard from several of their peers on the JNFuture San Diego Board, including San Diego Board President Dafna Avraham and Young Families Chair Leora Goldfarb.

“Jewish National Fund-USA’s work in Israel would not be possible without supporters like you and me,” Avraham told the crowd. “This work is changing the lives of those in Israel and together, we are making an impact.”

JNFuture is Jewish National Fund-USA’s community of young philanthropists ages 22-40 who share a commitment and passion for Israel. In addition, Root Society members who donate $1,000 or more to the organization’s annual campaign enjoy additional benefits including exclusive access to members-only events, expert speakers, networking opportunities, and invitations to National Conference Major Donor events.
