San Diegan finds hate message in a library book
Adira Rosen, a San Diegan now attending Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was the subject of local television news reports when she found swastikas and hate messages drawn onto the pages of a library book only a month after the massacre at the Tree of Life Synagogue.
Carnegie-Mellon President Farnam Jahanian promptly issued a statement condemning hate and bigotry and offering his sympathy to the Jewish community. Contrast drawn between Roosevelt’s and Trump’s outreach to Jews

Attending a Chanukah party at the White House, Washington D.C. advocate Ezra Friedlander drew a contrast between presidential responses to the Holocaust when it was occurring versus the current response from the Trump administration. Noting that eight survivors of the Holocaust were special guests at the White House Chanukah party, Friedlander commented:
“To me the contrast couldn’t be starker. My thoughts at the reception was the visual of the 400 rabbis that attempted to meet with President (Franklin D.) Roosevelt during the darkest days of the Holocaust and were rebuffed literally at the gates of the White House where they were refused entry and now the President of the United States inviting Holocaust survivors to join him on stage inside the White House and publicly identifying with their suffering.” –– From Ezra Friedlander
Sara Miller stepping down from StandWithUs post

Sara Miller, a fundamentalist Christian who heads the pro-Israel advocacy organization StandWithUs regional office in San Diego, has announced on Facebook that she will soon be leaving the post. In the post, she said: “It is with mixed joy and sadness that I announce my resignation from 4 + wonderful years at StandWithUs, a truly special organization. Roz, Jerry, Gary, Esther, Yael, the incredible int’l staff, my board, donors and the SD community have made this journey one of the most meaningful of my life so far. I can’t express the depth of gratitude I have to Jenny, Tanya, Michelle, Micha, Nina, Daniella, Natalie, Jaime, Linda, Barbara, and so many others of you who came alongside me, guided me and cheered me on. You have been instrumental in changing my life. I will take with me lessons learned, relationships gained, new skills, and most of all, understanding, compassion and zeal for issues that are far bigger and more important than myself. I am bursting with anticipation at my next adventure, which I will be able to go into more detail after the new year. The Hand of God is the sole reason for where I am today. His plans are far greater and more majestic than anything I could have ever dreamed for myself. Thank you to my sweet husband, Mark, for your enduring support and love and to my family for never doubting me.Shabbat Shalom, Happy Hannukah, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!! HE is the reason for the season!” — From Sara Miller
