President Obama viewed Israel as a colonial force, an outsider, occupying Arab-Muslim lands. And that perspective colored his foreign policy. That is not President-elect Biden’s perspective. I invite members of the Democrat party and the incoming administration to read the UN Security Council Resolution 242 of 1967 and UNSC 2334 of December 23 2016. Note the difference in wording. 242 was written to allow the people in the peace talks the flexibility to make a deal. Whereas 2334 of 2016 dictates what the final solution will be between Israel and the Palestinians. The New Zealand Security Council delegate voted for 2334 illegally under New Zealand Law. I was one of thousands who took to the streets and went to Wellington and protested at Parliament over our support for 2334. Such votes at the Security Council must be put to the NZ Cabinet by the Foreign Minister. This did not happen and there is no minute on the subject in the Cabinet record. The National party has disassociated itself from the vote and from my talking to MPs now who were in that Cabinet, they tell me had it gone to Cabinet, New Zealand would have voted against the resolution. So come on Democrats, look forward but if you have to go back go to UNSC 242 of 1967. — John McCormick, written from Down Under
