Jewish-Interest License Plate: YAALAAA

SAN DIEGO — As our license plate maven Melanie Rubin correctly points out,  “Yallah” is an Arabic expression meaning “Let’s Go!”  It is widely used in Israel by both Arabs and Jews.  This original spelling of the word, may suggest that the owner of the car is in a real hurry to get going!   Kudos to Melanie for spotting this license plate.

Yallah, yallah,. Yea when I worked in the Refet at Kibbutz Ein Gav in 1967 we all yelled at the cows in every language under the sun. The manager was Mexican and the rest of us were English speakers or French or Swedish, anything other than Hebrew. I think the cows must have been a bit confused by all the different languages. Yallah Yallah was what most of us yelled at the cows most of the time just about every day. Looking back it is rather funny. I am writing this on September 3 2021 in New Zealand Shanah Tovah
