White Supremacist Tom Metzger dead at 82

Tom Metzger, one of the nation’s most notorious white supremacists and anti-Semites, has died, according to a post on his White Aryan Resistance website. He was 82. News of the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Friday was met in San Diego with expressions of grief and hope. Leichtag Foundation urges Beirut relief donations

The Encinitas, California-based Leichtag Foundation expressed shock and sadness over the Aug. 4 explosion that destroyed most of the port of Beirut, Lebanon, killing more than 150 people and leaving thousands homeless. “Responding hospitals, already stretched thin due to COVID-19 are now at overcapacity,” reported Charlene Seidle and Sharyn Goodson, respectively the Foundation’s executive vice president and vice president for philanthropy and organizational development. Grand Princess passengers enter Miramar quarantine

More than 300 passengers from the Grand Princess cruise ship had arrived at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar by Wednesday to begin a mandatory 14-day coronavirus quarantine. Approximately 270 cruise ship evacuees arrived at the base Wednesday afternoon, joining 42 passengers who were flow in Tuesday night. More could be coming, according to media reports. Work begins on USNS Harvey Milk

The slain San Francisco County Supervisor Harvey Milk (1930-1978) is celebrated as the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California.  Besides being gay, he also was Jewish.  Both communities can take pride in the United States Navy deciding to name after him a new fleet oiler that is being built at General Dynamics NASSCO here in San Diego. Susan Davis votes for Trump impeachment inquiry

As a bandwagon grew in Congress, Rep. Susan Davis on Tuesday joined fellow Democrats in the San Diego County delegation calling for an impeachment investigation of President Trump. Davis announced her support as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi formally launched an impeachment inquiry in the wake of accusations that Trump threatened to withhold military aid to Ukraine unless that country investigated the son of former Vice President Joseph Biden, a candidate for the Democratic nomination.
